Itel Super 26 Ultra Launched in Kenya: Price, Specs and Availability
Itel Kenya has introduced the Itel Super 26 Ultra to the Kenyan market, offering several upgrades over its predecessor, the Itel S25.
Itel smartphones balance premium features and budget-friendly prices, and the Itel Super 26 Ultra exemplifies this.
Itel Super 26 Ultra Specs breakdown
Key Features at a Glance
Display
The phone features a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 by 2436 pixels, a fast 144Hz refresh rate, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
This display is perfect for gamers and casual users, as the 144Hz refresh rate ensures a smoother interaction with the phone.
I found something interesting about the display. On Itel’s website, the 144Hz refresh rate is listed with an asterisk, indicating that the phone does not have a full native 144Hz refresh rate panel.
The display is surprisingly bright, with a peak brightness of 4500 nits, allowing comfortable use under direct sunlight.
In a video demonstrated by Itel, the phone is dropped from a height of 1.5 meters without breaking. However, I would take this information with a grain of salt until we see real-life drop tests from actual users.
Processor and Software
Under the hood, the Itel Super 26 Ultra is powered by the Unisoc T7300, a 6 nm chipset, an improvement over last year's T620, which had a 12nm architecture.
On the software side of things, the phone comes with Android 15 with Itel OS 15 skinned on top. There are a few AI features, like Sola AI, which is Itel’s AI assistant, Circle to search, writing assistance, call assistance, and AI subtitles, which generate real-time subtitles and transitions in video scenarios.
Itel did not specify how many years of software support the phone is going to get, but we can estimate maybe a year or two; however, Itel guarantees 6 years of fluency
Storage
Onboard, the phone offers two storage options: 128GB with 8GB RAM and 256GB with 8GB RAM. If you frequently store files, photos, and videos, the 256GB version is the better choice.
The RAM can be expanded up to an extra 8GB via virtual RAM.
This phone is suitable for students or those who are looking to buy their first smartphone.
Cameras
The phone is equipped with four cameras on the back, including a 50MP main camera. However, the other three cameras appear to serve no purpose at all. I searched their website but couldn’t find any information regarding the functionality of the additional cameras.
The selfie camera is a 32MP sensor. Both the rear and the front-facing cameras can record video up to 2k 30fps, and only the rear camera has EIS for stable videos.
Battery and charging
The battery is a huge 6000mAh, which should last you an entire day or two of use, depending on your usage, and it’s paired with 18W fast charging, which might take some time to juice up the phone, given the huge battery capacity.
Build & Design
The design of the Itel Super 26 Ultra looks really good; it looks better than last year's release and closely resembles the Samsung S25 Ultra, but it has its own personality and is not completely a copycat.
The back and the frame of the phone are made of plastic; the sides are also not the trendy boxy design we are used to, but rather, it is slim. It measures a huge 6.8 inches diagonally.
On the right-hand side, you get your usual volume rocker buttons. At the bottom, there is a speaker grille, a USB-C port, a microphone, and a SIM ejector tool.
Price and Availability in Kenya
The Itel Super 26 Ultra is expected to be priced at KES 29,999 for the 256GB 8GB RAM, and it will be available at all Itel shops and select partners, including online stores like Jumia and Kilimall.
Who should buy the Itel Super S26 Ultra?
This Super S26 Ultra is designed for students, featuring a larger display and a bigger battery to meet their needs.
Also, for those looking to buy their first smartphone, this phone will be well-suited for them, and for those looking for a backup phone, the Itel Super S26 Ultra will come in handy.
Final thoughts
The Itel Super 26 Ultra is an affordable, all-around budget phone that offers great value. If you're upgrading from the Itel S25 Ultra, the improvements are noticeable but not drastic. You’ll find enhanced cameras, a brighter display, a larger screen, and most importantly, a more powerful processor.
If you are coming from, let’s say, a three- or four-year-old smartphone, or you are buying a fresh one, the Super S26 Ultra makes sense, and you will probably be happy with what you get with this phone.
Mobile gamers and photographers may want to consider other options, as the processor can overheat during gaming, and there is only one camera on the back.
For the price, this is what a budget smartphone should look like; it’s not perfect, but it gets the job done.
Would you spend KES 29,999 on the Itel Super 26 Ultra or go for the other alternatives like the Infinix Hot 60 Pro or the Tecno SPark 40 Pro? Do let me know in the comments section below.
