The Oppo Find X9, Oppo's flagship device, has unexpectedly gone on sale in the Kenyan market today, November 20th, 2025. The move comes as a surprise, as there were no prior teasers or a formal launch event for the device.
This phone is highly recommended if you are looking for a device that offers fast performance, excellent battery life, and a quality camera system.
The Powerhouse: (Performance)
Oppo chose a path less traveled for the Find X9, equipping it with Mediatek's premier chipset, the Dimensity 9500, instead of the Snapdragon 8Elite Gen 5 that powers many of its flagship competitors.
While benchmark results indicate the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has a slight edge over the Dimensity 9500, this performance difference is negligible in most real-world scenarios and would only be noticeable to those closely scrutinizing the data.
The device offers substantial storage and performance, featuring 512GB of internal storage paired with 16GB of RAM. This configuration is more than adequate for demanding users, including gamers, heavy multitaskers who frequently switch between numerous applications, and individuals who capture a large volume of photos and videos.
Kenyans considering this phone will find that it effortlessly handles daily tasks. Whether you're playing games, scrolling through social media, or multitasking, you should enjoy a lag-free experience.
The Camera (Hasselblad Partnership)
The Oppo Find X9 features a strong camera system, co-engineered with Hasselblad, utilizing a versatile triple-camera setup. This array consists of three 50MP lenses: a main sensor, a Periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and an ultrawide lens. Additionally, the phone includes a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.
Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) is a key feature, applied specifically to both the main and telephoto cameras.
For video recording, the rear cameras are capable of recording videos up to 4K 120fps with HDR 10+, Dolby Vision, and LOG. The front-facing camera can record videos up to 4K 60fps with EIS support.
High expectations were placed on this device, given the strong performance of its predecessor. Based on numerous reviews, the cameras certainly lived up to the hype. The subject separation is impressive, colors are vibrant, and the images maintain a natural appearance whether or not HDR is used.
Battery and Design
The phone is equipped with an extremely large 7015mAh silicon-carbon battery. This significant capacity should comfortably provide an entire day of use, though actual mileage will vary based on individual usage.
For heavy users who might drain the large battery before the day is over, Oppo offers a comprehensive charging solution: a rapid 80W wired charger, complemented by 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.
For durability, the Find X9 features Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the front. It is also rated IP68/69, meaning it can handle high-pressure water jets and be submerged in water up to 1.5 meters deep for 30 minutes.
The back of the phone is also protected by glass, hence the phone should feel premium in the hand.
For the Kenyan market, the phone comes with only two colours, Space black and Titanium Grey.
Software and AI
The device runs on the newest Android 16, featuring Oppo's ColorOS 16 skin. Oppo is committing to a substantial promise of up to five major software upgrades for this phone.
Oppo has integrated several AI features, including the preinstalled Google Gemini for general queries. Additionally, the phone offers AI-powered tools such as AI writing, AI recording, and AI Mind Space.
The latter uses AI to synthesize information from your phone, like content from screenshots or voice notes, to create user-friendly summaries, ensuring everything is organized and easily accessible in a dedicated folder.
Conclusion and Call to Action
The Oppo Find X9 is available for purchase at KES 140,000 via the official Oppo website and designated authorized retailers.
