Samsung Galaxy A27 Price in Kenya: Is Samsung Charging Too Much?
The Samsung Galaxy A27 has finally arrived in Kenya, but its pricing has left many potential buyers scratching their heads.
If you're planning to buy the Galaxy A27 directly from Samsung, you might want to compare prices first. The exact same phone is already selling for noticeably less at several reputable third-party retailers, raising questions about whether Samsung's official pricing represents good value.
The Samsung Galaxy A27 Price in Kenya: The Elephant in the Room
Samsung Kenya is selling the Galaxy A27 at:
6GB + 128GB: KES 41,300
8GB + 256GB: KES 52,500
Retailer
6GB + 128GB

KES 52,500
Phone Place Kenya
KES 35,000
KES 40,000
Ropem Phones
KES 37,500
KES 47,500
The Samsung A27 starts at KES 41,300 for the base model and KES 52,500 for the 8GB 256GB model, which is very pricey.
The A27 on third-party retailers such as Phone Place Kenya starts at KES 35,000 for the base model and KES 40,000 for the highest configuration. Ropem phones, which is affiliated with Safaricom, sells the A27 starting at KES 37,500 to KES 47,500 for the highest configuration.
Samsung seems to have priced the Galaxy A27 higher than expected, and that's disappointing. In my view, the official retail price feels hard to justify, especially when buyers who walk into a Samsung store first could end up paying significantly more than they would elsewhere.
Unless Samsung is bundling additional benefits such as exclusive promotions or after-sales services, it's difficult to justify paying the higher official price for the same device.
What's Actually New on the Galaxy A27?
A More Modern Design
Samsung finally replaces the old teardrop notch with a punch-hole display, giving the Galaxy A27 a cleaner and more premium look that's more in line with the Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57.
The phone features:
- 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display
- 120Hz refresh rate
- 1080 × 2340 resolution
- Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and back
- Plastic frame
The Galaxy A27 is also rated IP67 for dust and water resistance.
Although this is technically a step down from the Galaxy A26's IP68 rating, the difference is unlikely to matter for most everyday users.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 3: Enough Power?
Under the hood, the phone is using the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, which doesn’t offer a significant improvement compared to its predecessor, according to benchmark results.
Since launch, several users on Samsung Community forums and Reddit have reported occasional lag when opening apps or navigating One UI. We haven't tested the device ourselves yet, so we'll verify these claims once our review unit arrives.
One of the culprits that might be contributing to the phone feeling slow is that Samsung is using the full One UI 8.5 software skin, which is quite heavy.
Samsung's full One UI 8.5 software experience is feature-rich, but it can also be demanding on mid-range hardware, which may contribute to the occasional stutters some users have mentioned.
The Galaxy A27 is available in Kenya in two memory configurations:
6GB RAM + 128GB storage
8GB RAM + 256GB storage
Samsung still retains the 5000mAh battery with 25W charging support, but you have to get the charger separately
The 50MP OIS Camera: Mid-Range Magic?
For the rear cameras, you get a 50MP main shooter, a 5MP ultra, and a 2MP macro lens.
The ultra-wide has been downgraded from 8MP to 5MP, so you should expect less detailed photos, especially in low-light scenarios.
The 50MP has OIS and can record videos up to 4K at 30 fps.
At the font there is a 12MP selfie shooter with no OIS, which again has been downgraded from a 13MP.
The phone can only record at 1080 60fps with the front-facing camera.
The 6-Year Update Promise: Samsung’s Ace in the Hole
Software support continues to be one of Samsung's biggest advantages over many competing Android brands.
The Galaxy A27 launches with Android 16 running One UI 8.5 and is promised six years of Android OS and security updates, taking software support all the way to Android 22.
The bigger question, however, is how well the hardware will keep up throughout that update cycle. If the Galaxy A27 already shows occasional performance hiccups on Android 16, it will be interesting to see how it performs several generations from now. That's something only long-term use can answer.
Should You Buy the Galaxy A27 From Samsung or a Retailer?
If you're set on buying the Galaxy A27, comparing prices before making your purchase could save you a considerable amount of money.
At current prices, reputable third-party retailers are offering the same device for thousands of shillings less than Samsung's official store. Unless Samsung includes additional benefits that justify the premium, many buyers will likely get better value elsewhere.
Verdict: Should You Buy the Samsung A27?
To wrap things up, the Galaxy A27 is seemingly an underwhelming Samsung midrange phone just like its predecessor, the A26.
If you ask me, Samsung's A20 series has consistently been the weakest lineup in its midrange portfolio. It offers even less value than the A37 and A50 series, and it sits in a price segment where there are far better alternatives.
I would recommend going with the Galaxy A56 or the Nothing 4b, and if you value performance, get the Poco X8 Pro, Redmi Turbo 5, or the OnePlus Nord 6.

That's too expensive coming from Samsung, definitley not buying from them
