Itel Teases the Itel S24 for the Kenyan Market: What to Expect

A Sneak Peak at Itel S24 Soon to be Available in Kenya

Itel Kenya has recently given a hint regarding the announcement of its latest S series, the S24, which will replace the s23 series launched last year. Itel is renowned for providing budget-friendly smartphones with good specifications, so what can we expect from this year's S24? Let's take a closer look.

Key Features

Display

The phone has a huge 6.6-inch display paired with a 90-Hz refresh rate, an LCD panel with a resolution of 720 by 1612, and a peak brightness of 480 nits.

The display is neither the brightest nor the most visually impressive on the market. Viewing the phone under direct sunlight can be challenging due to its low brightness level.

With the LCD display, you might struggle to view content as LCD displays are not as good as compared to AMOLED displays which offer deep blacks and good color saturation.

However, on the bright side, I am glad that Itel has decided to include a 90Hz refresh rate which will make scrolling and opening of apps much smoother.

Camera

The Itel S24 boasts a 108MP primary camera, but surprisingly, it has super steady mode but only at 1080p. In addition, there is a 0.08MP auxiliary lens which seems to be a gimmick as the majority of the shots will be taken by the primary 108MP lens.

The inclusion of a higher MP main camera means that you will be able to take high-quality photos, however, it's worth pointing out that a higher megapixel doesn’t mean that the photos will come out nice and crisp.

At the front, we get an 8MP selfie shooter also with stabilization at 1080p. The 8MP should take good-quality photos mainly in good lighting conditions and might struggle a little bit while in dark places. Both the rear camera and the selfie camera can record videos up to 2k 30 fps.

Performance

The brain of the Itel S24 is the Mediatek G91 chipset, which shares the same hardware as the G88 and G85 but boasts an upgraded ISP.

The G91 has a 4G connectivity feature. It is a budget phone, so don't expect it to perform well during gaming. If you play your favorite games at higher frame rates, you might experience occasional drop frames.

The phone will come with Android 13 pre-installed. However, if you're hoping for regular software updates, you might want to lower your expectations. Based on Itel's track record of software updates, they tend to provide updates only for quarterly security patches, and even those are not sustained for long periods, however, we have to wait to see whether Itel will change this during their official launch.

Storage and RAM

On board the storage, the phone starts at base 4GB RAM 128GB, 8GB RAM 128GB, and 8GB RAM 256GB, I would go for the higher RAM configuration because the more RAM and storage you have the better your experience will be.

Battery

The Itel S24 packs a huge 5000mAh battery which would last you an entire day if you are a casual user on the flip side if you are a heavy user you will have to charge before the end of the day.

The good news is this time we get faster charging this time which is 18W as compared to the S23 10W. The 18W is not a crazy charge it will take 2 hours to fully juice up the phone, it's an improvement. Inside the box, you get a Type-C charging cable and a brick.

Why the Excitement?

This year's S24 will see major improvements as compared to its predecessor the S23, Ranging from the 108MP main camera, fast charging, a new design, a new processor, and the color shifting back which stands out, however, keep in mind that this is not a gaming phone, it's still a budget phone.

Call to action

The Itel budget smartphone offers mid-range specifications at an affordable price, with consistent improvements over the years.

Itel has not yet announced the launch date, but stay tuned as I will be updating you on when the phone will launch and the expected price.
