Realme C67 4G Now Available for Purchase in Kenya
Realme is known for producing cost-effective smartphones, and they have come up with another budget-friendly option - the Realme c67.
As with most Realme phones, the c67 is a decent device, and its main attraction is the 108MP primary camera. If you are considering buying this phone in 2024, let's explore whether it is worth investing your money in it.
Key Features
Processor
Under the hood, the phone packs a Snapdragon 685 processor which is a capable chip. It can handle light gaming on the go, however, don’t expect the phone to play heavy title titles smoothly as you may experience occasional lags, the processor is 6nm for power saving and efficiency while interacting with the phone.
Unfortunately, this device does not support 5G connectivity, so if you require 5G, you will need to consider other options. On the software front, the Realme c67 comes with Android 14 with Realme's own UI skin on top.
Realme has promised to offer two years of OS updates and three years of security updates both in the 4G and 5G versions, Realme should have offered at least three years of OS updates and four years of security patches just like the competition, it's a good offering never the less.
Display
The display of the C67 is not as good as I wanted it to be, it’s a huge 6.72-inch LCD display paired with a 90Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling with a resolution of 1080 by 2400 and a peak brightness of 950 nits.
Realme should have used an AMOLED display as this would make watching videos on various platforms lively with deeper blacks and nice contrasty colors, but that's what we get with budget phones.
The 950 nits of brightness shouldn’t be a bother while using the phone under direct sunlight. The resolution is good enough for sharper details as you use the phone.
Cameras
The highlight of the Realme c67 is the camera system. At the back, there is a 108MP main camera with 3x zoom and a 2MP depth sensor. The 108MP should take good-looking photos in a well-lit environment, the Auto-HDR baked into the camera system will help you take crisp photos.
You can switch to HI-Res mode which will unlock the full potential of the 108MP shooter, even though it’s not good for shooting moving subjects.
At the front, there is an 8MP selfie shooter which will capture nice and detailed photos provided you are in good lighting condition, when shooting at night or in dark areas the cameras might struggle to produce crisp photos. Both the rear and the back camera can shoot videos up to 1080p 30 fps with what Realme calls Ultra-steady mode for stabilizing videos.
Storage and RAM
On board the storage, there are three storage configurations 128GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 8GB RAM, and 256GB 8GB RAM.
However, Realme Kenya has not stated which storage configuration will be available in Kenya, my best guess is all storage configurations might be available to set different prices for each configuration. The DRE technology allows for an additional 8GB of dynamic memory to be added to the RAM.
Battery
Powering the Relme c67 is a 5000mAH battery paired with a 33W fast charging. The phone’s battery should be able to last you an entire day of use if you are a light user on the flip side if you are a heavy user you might need to charge the phone before the day ends.
Build and Design
The back of the Reakme C67 features a color-shifting design that shifts colors depending on how the light hits, this design will stand out without a case, but if you don’t mind about the color-shifts then you can slap the phone with a case. The good thing with that design is that it’s prone to fingerprint smudges.
In the top left corner of the c67, there is a dual camera setup consisting of the primary 108MP camera and a 2MP depth sensor. Adjacent to the camera setup, there is a flashlight.
The sides of the c67 feature an iPhone-like design that is boxy in shape. Holding the phone will give a premium feel.
For protection, it is certified against dust and water splashes IP 54 however there is no mention of the glass protection used.
The power button also doubles as the fingerprint scanner and above there are the volume up and down buttons and the sim tray which can house two sim cards and a micro SD card on the left.
There is a top-firing speaker at the top a speaker at the bottom (stereo speakers) and a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom.
Why Choose the Realme C67?
First off the phone is well priced at KES 22,000, compared to the competition, it’s a well-rounded phone for the price. The 108MP main camera which is the unique selling point will take good-looking photos provided there is enough light.
The C67 offers dual stereo speakers, a feature that is difficult to find in smartphones at this price point. Additionally, it has an IP54 rating, making it resistant to dust and water splashes.
The phone's processor is decently powerful, but it will perform even better when paired with high RAM. As a result, it can handle multitasking with ease.
The 5000mAh is big enough to last you a full day of use depending on the usage and you can juice up the phone using the included 33W charger. The design of the phone is modern looking with the color-shifting at the back and the slim bezels at the front which many Kenyans will find appealing.
Down Sides of the Realme C67
First, the Snapdragon 685 is not the most powerful out there, for some games such as Genshin Impact, you will have to lower the frame rates to have smooth gameplay.
Realme has not mentioned the type of glass protection used and has only promised two major OS updates and three years of security patches which is not sufficient enough considering other brands like Samsung offer four years of OS updates and five years of security patches including their A series budget phones such as the Samsung A15.
The lack of an AMOLED display is a major drawback as users won’t get to experience the visually appealing colors, however, this is compensated with a 90Hz refresh rate and a high resolution.
Availability
The Realme c67 will soon be available in Realme stores all over the country, as well as in other phone retailers like Phoneplacekenya and online stores such as Jumia and Kilimall. The phone will come in only two colors in Kenya: Oasis Green and Black Rock.
Conclusion
The Realme c67 is a decent phone that offers good specifications at an affordable price of KES 22,000. It provides decent performance, a nice build, a bright display, stereo speakers, and nice cameras.
However, it has a few drawbacks such as the lack of an AMOLED display, no glass protection, and only a few years of OS updates.
If you're searching for a smartphone that has a variety of features and you're okay with the disadvantages I just mentioned, then you may want to consider the Realme c67. Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could share your thoughts on this phone in the comments section.
