Samsung S24 FE Now Available in Kenya
Samsung has finally unveiled the Samsung S24 FE in the Kenyan market, and it's now available for purchase. For those who don’t know, the "FE" stands for "Fun Edition." These phones offer flagship-level features such as the display, build, design, and software support at a much lower price.
Key Features of the Samsung S24 FE
Display
If you have used Samsung devices before, you are familiar with their excellent display quality. The S24 FE continues this trend with its impressive 6.7-inch AMOLED display, featuring a resolution of 1080 by 2400 pixels and supporting HDR10+. With a peak brightness of 1900 nits, the display remains easily visible even in direct sunlight.
Watching videos on this phone will be vibrant, thanks to the AMOLED display that provides deep blacks, high-contrast images, and excellent viewing angles, creating an immersive experience.
One thing that I don’t like about this phone is the chunky bezels that it comes with. Yes, the bezels are slimmer compared to the S23 FE, but they are still visible, especially at the bottom chin; they aren’t equal to the bezels at the top.
The display is protected with Corning Gorilla glass Victus Plus which is more scratch and drop-resistant to certain heights that’s impressive.
The screen refresh rate can go up to 120Hz or you can set it to automatic which will adjust between 120H or 60Hz to save on power.
Performance
The phone is equipped with the Exynos 2400e, a 4nm chipset designed for efficiency and power conservation and It also features the Eclipse 940 GPU.
It's worth noting that this chipset differs from the one found in the S24 and the S24 Plus. According to Android Authority, the only difference is in clock speed.
The Exynos chipset in the S24 and S24 Plus runs at 3.2 GHz, while the Exynos 2400e runs at 3.1 GHz. This means that those concerned about the power of the Exynos 2400e should not worry, as it is still a capable chipset.
The Exynos 2400e is designed to handle demanding games without overheating. On the software side, Samsung has done a great job. It comes with Android 14 with One UI 6.1 out of the box.
Samsung has also promised 7 years of OS and security patches, which is great for those who plan to keep the phone for a long time. Personally, I don't think I would keep the phone for that long, but it's a good option to have.
Camera
Samsung's cameras are top-notch, even in midrange phones. The S2 FE is equipped with a 50MP main sensor, a 10MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. Fortunately, there is no macro or depth sensor. With the powerful processor Exynos 2400e, the phone is expected to capture excellent photos.
It can record videos from 1080p 30/60fps, 4k 30/60fps and 8k at 30fps. I would recommend using the 4k resolution as you would get better image quality and better image stabilization as compared to using the 8k resolution this is because a lot of TVs out there don’t support 8k resolution only a fraction do.
At the front, there is a 10MP punch-hole camera and the photos taken should be sharp. It can record videos up to 4k 30/60fps no 8k resolution here. Both the front and the back cameras have stabilization, however, the rear cameras have OIS while the front camera uses EIS.
Battery
The battery on the Samsung S24 FE is slightly smaller as it comes with 4700 mAh which should last you an entire day or less depending on your usage. It supports 25W of fast charging.
Unfortunately, as with many Samsung smartphones, even their midrange phones don’t come with a charger inside the box, we are already getting used to this trend, the phone supports 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
Price and Availability in kenya
The S24 FE will be available in select retail stores in the country including Jumia, Phoneplacekenya, and Ropem phones however the prices might differ for instance Phone Place is selling phones at KES. 89,000, and the official price is KES. 86,000.
Why the S24 FE Stands Out
The S24 FE is distinguished from its competitors by its powerful processor, excellent cameras, and long battery life. The build quality is also quite solid.
One UI on Samsung is optimized with fewer bloatware and ads, the only bloatware you will get is the duplicate of most Google apps, for instance, Samsung has its own browser an alternative to Chrome other than that the software is clean.
Final Thoughts
The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is a strong contender in the Kenyan market and many people purchase it for different reasons.
For example, some of my friends buy Samsung phones simply because of the brand name, while others value their longevity, as Samsung promises longer years of operating systems and security updates.
The clean software experience is also a plus for most people and the good form factor is also impressive. Here are the pros and cons
Pros
- Great display
- Good processor
- Nice build
- 7 years of operating system and security updates.
- Capable cameras
