Tecno MegaPad Pro Specs, Price in Kenya, and Availability (Everything We Know)

Following its official launch in markets like Nigeria and Ghana, the Tecno Megapad Pro is anticipated to arrive in the Kenyan market soon.

The company also introduced the more affordable MegaPad SE in these regions, which is also expected to be released in Kenya.

In this blog, we are going to talk about everything that you need to know about the Tecn MegaPad Pro.

Breaking down the Key features

Display and Design

The MegaPad is equipped with a 12-inch 2K IPS LCD, offering a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, the display provides consistent and accurate color representation across various devices thanks to its 100% sRGB color gamut.

The display has a peak brightness of 450 nits. This makes it easily visible indoors, though you may find it difficult to use in direct sunlight. The bezels are somewhat thinner, resulting in an 86% screen-to-body ratio.

While the high-resolution display is excellent for entertainment, the MegaPad Pro lacks premium features like HDR 10+ or Dolby Vision from Tecno.

Design

The MegaPad features an all-metal finish and is remarkably slim at just 6.99mm. It is equipped with quad speakers, which are positioned on the side and benefit from Dolby Atmos tuning. Standard controls, including the power button and volume rocker keys, are located on the right-hand side of the device.

A dedicated AI button, highlighted with an orange accent, is included for quickly activating Tecno's AI assistant, Ella.

The tablets feature what appears to be a dual-camera setup on the back; however, it actually utilizes only a single 13MP camera sensor.

Overall, the design of this tablet looks sturdy and durable, given that it has a metal chassis.

Performance - Helio G100 and 10,000mAh Battery

Honestly, I have mixed feelings about the Helio G100 processor powering this tablet. Given the "pro" designation, I anticipated a much more powerful chipset, perhaps something from the Dimensity line.

The MediaTek Helio G100 is capable of handling everyday tasks like multitasking, web browsing, and mobile gaming, offering sufficient power for your needs.

The Helio G100 might not meet high expectations, as demanding games require a reduction in settings to achieve an optimal experience.

Battery

The MegaPad features a substantial 10,000mAh battery, which Tecno states offers up to 8 hours of usage on a single charge. A significant improvement over the MegaPad SE's slow 18W charger, this model includes a faster 33W USB-C charger.

Audio & Media

With quad speakers positioned on its sides, the tablet should deliver an immersive sound experience for various activities, including watching movies, listening to music, and participating in online classes or video conferences.

Connectivity - The Big Catch

The Megapad Pro's lack of cellular connectivity, relying solely on Wi-Fi, will likely be a deal-breaker for some potential users. This limitation means the tablet is primarily suited for environments like home, office, or campus, rather than serving as an on-the-go device for mobile networks like Safaricom or Airtel.

Tecno’s Big Bet: The “Essential AI Tablet”

More than just a large display, the Tecno MegaPad Pro integrates numerous AI features to deliver a seamless mobile experience.

Dedicated AI Key: Instantly access the Ella voice assistant and speed up your tasks with the convenience of a single press, thanks to the dedicated AI quick button.

AI Drawing Board & Smart Scanner:.The AI drawing board is a powerful tool designed to enhance both creativity and efficiency by rapidly producing images and sources of inspiration.

Additionally, it offers features such as document scanning, quick recharging, and smart augmented reality (AR) measurements.

AI Translation: AI translation is a powerful tool for overcoming language barriers. It offers a range of features, including translation for photos, selected text, social media content, and face-to-face conversations.

AI Writing: These AI-powered tools can streamline your writing by offering document proofreading and plagiarism checking.

Tecno Megapad Pro Expected Price in Kenya.

The Tecno MegaPad Pro is expected to launch in Kenya with a price tag estimated to be in the range of KES 30,000 to KES 35,000.

The MegaPad includes additional accessories, notably the Tecno Mega Pencil. This stylus features 4096 pressure levels and can be used for drawing, writing, sketching ideas, and instantly searching by using the "Circle to Search" feature.

You can attach a Keyboard to the tablet, effectively transforming it into a laptop for tasks like typing documents and emails.

Availability and Our Final Verdict

The Tecno MegaPad can be purchased at any Tecno retail location across the country, as well as through online platforms like Jumia and Kilimall once available.

With a premium build and a large 12-inch 2K display, the tablet delivers a positive user experience. This is significantly enhanced by its powerful AI features and substantial 10,000mAh battery.

However, for it to truly be considered a "pro" tablet, Tecno should have opted for a Dimensity chipset. While the Helio G100 is certainly not poor, a Dimensity 5G chipset would have been a superior choice.

This tablet is best suited for students, artists, and media consumption at home, primarily because it lacks cellular connectivity.
