Yesterday, Samsung launched the much-anticipated Galaxy S26 series, and I was very fortunate to attend the event here in Kenya. The phones are on pre-order, and they will be available starting March 11.

However, given that some retailers already have the entire series in stock, I will not be surprised if I start seeing people walking around with the S26 series before March 11.

This guide wil cover the exact pricing, storage variants, storage variants and where to safely buy these flagships in Kenya.

Quick Pricing Overview: S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra in Kenya

A Closer Look at the Models and Their Prices

Samsung Galaxy S26 (Base Model)

Samsung Galaxy S26 in Gold: Front and back view showcasing the vertical triple camera system and punch-hole display.

First, the base S26 comes with a 6.3-inch LTPO Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, with 1080 by 2340 slapped on top, is the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Unfortunately, for this base model, it doesn’t come with the privacy display. The display brightness maxes out at 2,600 nits.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for the US and Canada and Exynos 2600 (2nm) for the rest of the world, and it comes with Android 16 out of the box, plus a promised 7 major OS and security patches.

The phone has a 50MP main camera, 10MP telephoto, and 12MP ultrawide. The rear main camera can record videos up to 8k, and the front-facing camera can do 4k resolution. This camera setup is the same as last year's S25; literally nothing has changed.

On the battery side of things, we see a slight improvement; the S26 comes with a 4300mAh battery, but it still maintains the same charging speeds at 25W, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless.

This phone is mainly for those looking for very good performance and for those who want a top-tier Galaxy AI. However, if you have the Galaxy S25, I don’t see any reason to upgrade because some features are just the same, such as the cameras.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus (+)

Samsung Galaxy S26+ in Violet: Large-screen smartphone showing the front display and the back with its triple rear cameras.

Up next is the Samsung S26+, starting with the display, which shares most of the features with the base S25. It measures a 6.7-inch LTPO Dynamic AMOLED display paired with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2k resolution. Slapped on top of it is the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits

Under the hood,  the phone also comes with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for the United States, China, and Japan, and the Exynos 2600 for other regions

The S26+ comes with Android 16 and OneUI 8.5 out of the box, and Samsung promises 7 years of OS and security patches.

At the back of the phone, you get a 50P main camera with OIS, a 10MP telephoto, and a 12MP ultrawide lens. At the front, you get a 12MP selfie shooter. The rear camera can record videos up to 8k resolution, while the front-facing camera can do 4k resolution. Again, the camera details are the same as last year's.

Powering the phone is a 4900mAh battery paired with a 45W wired charger, 25W wireless, and a 4.5W reverse wireless charger.

Who should buy this? This phone is for those looking for media consumers who want a slightly bigger screen and a larger battery, but do not necessarily need the ultra’s S-Pen or extreme camera zoom. Again, you can be better off with last year's S25+.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

The Samsung S26 ultra is really interesting this year, especially on the display side of things. This phone comes with a huge 6.9-inch LTPO Dynamic AMOLED display paired with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display on the S26 ultra uses a privacy display that stops people from snooping at you, and it maxes out at 2600 its of brightness.

The display also has a 2k resolution and a DX anti-reflective coating, and slapped on top is Corning Gorilla Glass Amor 2. It has features something called a pro scaler, which can enhance your videos and movies, and for the first time, it supports 10-bit color.

Under the hood, the S26 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 across all regions; there is no Exyoss 2600 on the S26 Ultra.

At the back, there is a 200MP main camera, 10MP telephoto, 50MP periscope telephoto, and  50MP ultrawide lens. At the front, you get a 12MP selfie shooter. The rear cameras can record videos up to 8k resolution, while the selfie camera can do 4k resolution.

The battery is a standard 5000mAh, and it’s sad to see that the battery has remained the same over the past five years, given how Chinese companies are incorporating up to 7000mAh batteries.

The good thing is that you get faster charging this time around, up to 60W, which can charge from 0-75% in just 30 mins.

Who is this for? The S26 Ultra is for power users, professional photographers, and early tech adopters who are seeking the absolute best in 2026.

What Makes the Galaxy S26 Series Worth the Price? (Key Upgrades)

Samsung is still using the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset across its lineup, but it’s only exclusive to the S26 Ultra.

Next Gen Processing

Looking at the benchmark results between the Exynos 2600 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, we can see that the Exynos 2600 is still lagging behind the 8 Elite Gen 5 with a single-core score of 3105 vs 3,770 on 8 Elite Gen 5, a multicore score of 10, 444 on the Exynos vs 10,981 on the 8 Elite Gen 5 the only place where the Exynos shines is on the OpenCL score where the Exynos scores 24,240 vs 24,152 on the 8 ELite Gen 5.

Benchmark Test Exynos 2600 Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
Single-Core Score 3,105 3,770
Multi-Core Score 10,444 10,981
OpenCL Score 24,240 24,152

Advanced Galaxy AI

Samsung leaned heavily on AI, even going ahead and naming the S26 series as an AI smartphone powered by Galaxy AI. This includes photo assist, which you simply type or say what you want, and transforms your images into whatever you imagine

There is also a creative studio where you can turn favourite moments into stickers, invitations, wallpapers, and many more.

Hardware-Level Privacy

Here is how it actually works: the S26 Ultra’s display features two different types of pixels. First, you have the standard pixels that emit light widely, which is what gives the screen those excellent, wide viewing angles you expect from a Samsung flagship. But mixed in with those are new, specialized 'narrow' pixels. Instead of shining in a wide arc, these narrow pixels focus their light straight outward in a direct line.

The real noticeable change and what makes this infinitely better than a stick-on privacy screen protector is the software control. You don't have to deal with dim viewing angles all the time. The phone lets you choose exactly when this privacy mode kicks in, meaning you can customize it to activate automatically only when you open specific apps, like your mobile banking or WhatsApp.

Unmatched Longevity

The S26 series comes with Android 16 out of the box, and it will receive up to 7 years of OS and software updates, making the high-price a solid long-term investment.
