Samsung has been on the news radar for the better of December 2023 and January 2024 because of their much-anticipated launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series unpacked event which is going to happen on January 17 globally and Kenyans can’t wait for the unpacked event to unfold.

The S24 series Line up

According to India Today the Samsung S24 series is set to storm the market with three distinctive variants: the S24, S24+, and the top-tier S24 ultra hence these models will carry forward the legacy of the S23 lineup, especially when it comes to storage options. The standard S24 is expected to pack 8GB RAM, coupled with either 128GB or 256 GB storage.

The S24 takes it up a notch with 12GB RAM and a choice between 256 and 512 GB storage, but the real showstopper S24 Ultra. Rumor has it that this variant will boast 12GB RAM and a whopping 512GB and 1TB storage option.

Samsung is set to redefine display standards with its upcoming models. The S24 series is anticipated to feature a peak brightness of 2,600 nits across the three models inching to apples 3,000 nits.

The standard S24 is rumored to sport a 6.2-inch display, a subtle yet significant upgrade from the 6.1 inches of the preceding S23 series.

Despite its size upgrade the standard S24 will retain the same FHD+ 1080*2340 resolution. The S24+ is expected to come with a 6.7-inch display. This is a modest increase from 6.6 inches display from the previous S23+ model

However, this year’s S24+ will likely see slight improvements in the resolution side of things as it will have a resolution of 1440*3088 a significant jump from the previous model which had an FHD of 1080*2340.

The top-tier S Ultra series has always been known for its large screen size, and this year's S24 Ultra is no exception. It boasts an impressive 6.8-inch screen, just like last year's S23 series, with a screen resolution of 3088*1440.

However, the S24 Ultra and S23+ are the only models likely to feature an LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) screen, which can reduce the refresh rate to as low as 1Hz from 120Hz to help conserve battery life.

At the time of planning this article, Samsung has yet to make an official announcement about the preorder availability of the S24 series in Kenya. The reservation will be up until January 16th just a day before the official launch once you have made the reservation you are going to get a 50$ Samsung credit.

Local Pricing and Availability

At the moment, Samsung has not yet released the official prices for their upcoming S24 series. However, based on our estimates, the S24 Ultra is expected to cost around KES 187,00 while the standard S24 model is expected to be priced at 120,000. Unfortunately, we do not have any information regarding the pricing for the S24+ just yet. Please keep in mind that these are just estimates and not the actual prices.

Once the Samsung S24 series is available, you will be able to purchase it from official Samsung stores. Additionally, Samsung has partnered with other smartphone dealers such as Phoneplacekenya, Jumia, and Safaricom. However, Samsung will announce their official partners during the launch.
