The New Oppo Reno 11F is Now Available in kenya
Oppo has recently launched the Reno 11F 5G in Kenya, which is an addition to the already available Reno 11 series with some features cut down.
Oppo is a well-known manufacturer in the country and offers a wide range of smartphones from high-end to budget phones, all with their unique style of innovation.
The arrival of the Reno 11F in Kenya caught many by surprise, including myself. We did not expect it to be launched in Kenya at all. We are not quite sure what the "F" in 11F stands for; perhaps a fun edition? Let's delve right into the article.
Oppo Reno 11F: Key Specifications and Features
Camera Power
Oppo phones have always been known for their camera-centric features, particularly the Reno series, and the Reno 11F is no exception. The phone boasts a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. As per the reviews, the 64MP camera produces high-quality images under sufficient lighting conditions.
The phone has a 32MP front-facing camera and a primary camera on the back. Both cameras can capture videos with up to 4K resolution. However, if you want more stable videos, you should reduce the resolution to 1080p and enable Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS).
Display
The display measures a 6.7-inch AMOLED display paired with a fast 120Hz refresh rate, it has a peak brightness of 1100 nits so using the phone under direct sunlight won’t be an issue.
Unfortunately, the phone cannot capture 10-bit color due to its limitations. If the Reno 11F had supported 10-bit color, it could have resulted in 1024 red by 1024 green by 1024 blue.
It is protected by panda glass which I have never come across, this is the first phone seeing using that type of glass protection. Under the display, there is an optical fingerprint scanner for unlocking the phone.
The 6.78-inch display is larger than usual and may be challenging to reach for those with small hands.
Performance and battery
Under the hood, the phone ships with the Mediatek density 7050 a 6nm for efficiency and smooth performance, The 7050 can be able to play games well but don’t expect it to deliver flagship-level performance while gaming, it can handle simple tasks such as social media scrolling, and lighting gaming with ease. For connectivity it supports 5G.
On the software front, it ships with Android 14 on top of oppos own custom skin colorOS 14 which is highly customizable.
Powering the phone is a 5,000mAH battery which should last anyone a full day of use depending on their usage patterns, if you are worried about juicing up your Reno 11F worry no more as Oppo has included a fast 67W type-C charger.
Other Noteworthy Features
Other features include a sleek design and a boxy body. The Reno 11F supports IP 65 which means the phone is prone to light-pressure water spray.
It has only one storage configuration 256GB and 8GB RAM with a fast UFS 3.1 for data transfers. It also has an infrared port IR bluster as some would like to call it which can act as your remote control, where you can control your home gadgets such as the TV, sound systems, and air conditioners.
Reno 11F has a dual stereo speaker for an immersive sound experience. It supports expandable storage through a micro SD card up to 1Tb, in case you exhaust the storage you can always add an SD card.
The Oppo Reno 11F comes in three color configurations which are coral purple, ocean blue, and palm green, however, oppo has been hyping the palm green and ocean blue on their social media pages, my best guess is that these are the two color options we are going to get in Kenya.
Reno 11F - Who Is This Phone Perfect For?
If you're looking for a phone with a sleek and trendy design, a comfortable feel in your hand, and don't mind a larger size, then this is the perfect phone for you. It's sure to turn heads whenever you pull it out of your pocket.
For Photography enthusiasts out there, this phone is good, it takes nice shots even though the photos are not consistent, and it does deliver good photos overall.
The 8GB of RAM on the Reno 11F can be expanded by an additional 8GB, making it excellent for multitasking and allowing multiple apps to run simultaneously.
Where to Buy The Oppo Reno 11F in Kenya (Price and Availability)
The phone will be available in official Oppo and other certified retailer shops and it goes for KES.50,0000, however, there are no special offers.
Is the Oppo Reno 11F Worth the Hype?
In my opinion, the Oppo Reno 11F is worth the hype, first off it has a way cooler and more modern design from its boxy form factor to the even slim bezels surrounding the display.
The Oppo phone's cameras are highly skilled and capable. It also includes a fast charger in the box, which is a rare feature as many smartphone manufacturers are opting out of providing chargers. Oppo has promised to provide 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security patches for this phone, so customers can expect a smooth and uninterrupted experience for years to come.
However, it can't record stable footage at 4k resolution for both the front and back, which falls behind the competition. For instance, the Samsung A55 can record stable 4k footage and it's priced almost at the same price.
Secondly, I believe they could have chosen a faster chipset for the price they are asking. For instance, the Mediatek 8200 chipset offers better performance, yet smartphones with this chipset are available at much lower prices.
So, should you buy it? If you are looking for a phone with a nice build quality, decent cameras, slim bezels, and long-lasting battery life, and also want a fast charger, then I would say yes, this phone is a good choice. However, if you are looking for a phone with good gaming performance or better camera specs, then there are other smartphones available in the market that offer better specs at a lower price.
conclusion
Overall the Reno 11F is a decent smartphone offering a good build, slim bezels, capable cameras, a fast charger out of the box a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and IR bluster which we don’t see in many smartphones nowadays, and a good performing chipset.
As I mentioned earlier, the Oppo Reno 11F was not expected to be released in Kenya since it is already available in other countries. However, many Kenyans are still thrilled about this phone and its impressive features.
