The "Titan" Factor: Why This Launch is Different

Xiaomi is marketing this device as a "Titan device" due to its reinforced structural design and enhanced resistance to water and dust. This makes the device's durability superior to some flagship models.

The "Titan" Flagship (Pro & Pro+ 5G)

Display

On the display, both of these devices feature basically the same AMOLED display featuring a 6.83 inches, 1.5k resolution paired with 120Hz for smooth scrolling and swiping. They also have a high PWM dimming of 3840Hz, which is good for those with sensitive eyes.

Xiaomi also packs some goodies on these two devices, including HDR 10+  and Dolby Vision, and the phone has a peak brightness of 3200 nits, so using it under direct sunlight shouldn’t be an issue.

Processor

On the processor front, this is what separates the Pro from the Pro Plus. Under the hood, the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus features the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 (4nm). On the other hand, the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G features the Mediatek Dimensity 7400 Ultra chipset (4nm).

On the storage front, both phones are expected to start at 256GB 8GB RAM, all the way up to 512GB 12GB RAM.

Battery

Powering the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G is a huge 6580 silicon-carbon battery paired with a 45W fast charger with support for 22.5W reverse wired.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus has a slightly smaller battery, coming at 6500mAh, paired with a fast 100W charging, which can charge from 0-100 in just 40 minutes, and it also supports 22.5 reverse wireless charging.

Camera Capabilities

Both phones feature a 200MP main sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. We see a difference at the front, where the Note 15 Pro 5G has a 20MP selfie shooter, while the Note 15 Pro Plus has a  32MP.

Both can record videos up to 4K at 30fps. Unfortunately, Xiaomi still limits 1080p 60fps recording for the front-facing camera, so for vloggers, you have to consider direct competitors like the Samsung A56 5G, which offers 4K recording with the front-facing camera and 10-bit HDR.

The Budget Kings (Redmi Note 15 4G/4G Pro)

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 4G and the 15 4G Pro serve as Xiaomi's budget-friendly options. They provide certain features typically found in flagship devices at a more accessible price point, naturally involving a few compromises.

Display

The displays of these two phones are very similar, and they are really impressive. The feature is a 6.77-inch 1080 by 2392 resolution AMOLED display paired with a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and swiping, and they also have a high PWM dimming of 3840Hz.

The display on the Redmi Note 15 Pro 4G is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2; however, we don’t know the level of display protection on the non-Pro version, but we suspect it is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, just like its predecessor.

Processor

Under the hood, these phones have almost the same processors, featuring the Mediatek Helio G100 (6nm) for the Redmi Note 15 4G and the Mediatek Helio G200 (6nm) for the Redmi Note 15 Pro 4G, which is a minor refresh.

Looking at benchmark results, we see that the Mediatek Helio G200 only has a 2% performance increase, so I expect the performance to be the same for gaming, scrolling, and swiping.

On board, the storage of both these phones will support up to 512GB of storage, but only the Pro model will have up to 12GB of RAM.

Battery

Powering these two phones is a 6500mAh silicon-carbon battery for the Redmi Note 15 Pro 4G and a 6000mAh battery for the  Note 15 4G. The pro model has a 45W fast charging with 18W reverse wired charging. The non-pro model has a 33W fast charging, also with 18W reverse wired charging.

Since both phones have bigger batteries, you can expect 2 days of use for moderate users, and for heavy users, they might need to charge it once or twice during the day.

Camera

On the camera side of things, the Note 15 Pro 4G has a 200MP main camera + 8MP ultra wide lens, and at the front, there is a 32MP selfie shooter.

On the other hand, the Note 15 4G has a 108MP main camera plus a gimmicky auxiliary lens.

Both phones only record videos up to 1080p 60fps for the rear cameras and 30fps for the front-facing camera, but only the Pro model has Optical Image Stabilisation.

Competition Analysis: Redmi vs The world

Redmi Note 15 series will not have a smoother ride, given that there is a lot of competition in the Kenyan market, so we have to wait for our unit to come in the office, so we can compare it with the available competition. The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ is expected to compete with the Samsung A56 and the Upcoming Samsung A57.

The base models will see competition from the likes of the Infinix Note 60 series.

If you are coming from a budget phone from 2-3 years ago, then you should consider either of the Redmi Note 15 series, as you will be getting value for your money, especially on the display, build quality, and battery side of things.

For heavy gamers, I recommend going for the Redmi Note 15 Pro/Pro+ 5G, and if you have a tight budget and want something that can play games without really struggling, then you can consider the 4G models, as the processors are very similar.

Expected Price in Kenya & Availability

The Redmi Note 15 series has everyone covered, from the budget segment all the way to the upper midrange.

The Estimates

Base model: KES 27k-30k

Pro 4G model: KES 35k-40k

Pro 5G model: KES 38k-45k

Pro+ model: KES 48k-63k

These phones will be available on authorised retailers such as Phoneplackenya, Xiaomistorekenya, Safaricom shops, Jumia, and Kilimall.

Conclusion & Call to Action (CTA)

The Redmi Note 15 series isn’t a huge leap compared to its predecessors, especially in terms of processor. These series will launch on January 31st, and I will keep updating you.

So, having said that, will you be upgrading to the Titan? Let me know in the comments.
