Price in Kenya & Availability
The Infinix Note Edge is expected to be priced at around KES 33,000, and I can also bet on this price during launch.
If you are interested in this phone, it is currently available in select stores such as phoneplacekenya, online stores such as Jumia, and Kilimall.
Before you decide to buy this phone, keep in mind that prices may vary by retailer. For instance, Jumia is selling the Infinix Note Edge for 34,999, while phoneplacekenya is selling the smartphone for 32,999, which is a massive KES 2,000 difference.
Design & Display: The "Edge" Factor
Firstly, you have a choice of four colors: Titanium, Black, Blue, and Green. The green version is a textured polyurethane, whatever that name is.
There is a camera island which is housing the two cameras, the flashlight, and the active halo light.
The Infinix Note Edge is just 7.22mm thick, and when looking at it, it even looks skinnier than that, thanks to the sloped edges of the screen and that backend.
The device is also reasonably durable at the front as well. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, so hopefully, reasonably scratch-resistant. There is also IP 65 for dust and water resistance, but don’t go dunking it in the swimming pool, it will probably not end too well.
The Infinix Note Edge is also a club in your pants, thanks to the active halo lighting, which you can have it activate in different scenarios, let’s say when launching games, music, and you can also use it as a notification light, and it is also customisable, where you can choose different effects and colors to choose from.
To unlock the Infinix Note Edge, you have a basic in-display optical fingerprint scanner, as you would expect at this price point.
The display has a 1.5k AMOLED screen paired with a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and swiping through the UI, and it is also blindingly bright, coming at 4500 nits, so using it under direct sunlight should not be an issue.
Performance: Dimensity 7100 Deep Dive
Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 7100 chipset (6nm), which is the first device to use this chipset fresh out of the oven, which is likely the successor to the Mediatek Helio 7050.
The 7050 has been a reliable midrange workhorse; the Dimensity 7100 offers a significant upgrade in CPU power by doubling the number of performance cores.
Playing games on this bad boy, like weathering waves, you should lower those settings too low to get the best experience, but when things get toasty, the fps might drop into single figures.
More optimised titles like Call of Duty Mobile and PUBG will be handled effortlessly with this bad boy.
There is also a gaming mode, which is absolutely packed with a lot of gaming features, such as performance, notification blockers, and you can also tweak the screen sensitivity.
The phone also comes with Android 16 with XOS version 16 slapped on top of it. Infinix promises 3 years of OS updates.
Beneath the volume rocker keys and the power button, you also have a one-tap button, as Infinix terms it, and if you press it, it will launch the camera, but you can map it to turn on the torch, AI, record the screen, or open an app that is already installed.
The phone also has crapware included, some of which can be uninstalled, but others can only be disabled.
Camera Capabilities
The Infinix Note Edge camera setup is quite simple; you get a 50MP main camera, and that’s it, no ultrawide, no telephoto, so the main camera is for taking simple shots, but don’t expect anything jaw-dropping, especially when it comes to low light.
The front-facing camera is a 13MP selfie shooter, which again will not wow you at all. The good news is that both the rear and the front-facing camera can record videos up to 2k resolution, but without any form of OIS.
Battery Life & Charging
Powering this device is a 6500mAh battery, though not a silicon-carbon battery. For moderate users, you should expect 2 days of use, and for extreme heavy users, you should expect to charge the device once or twice a day.
The Infinix Note Edge has a 45W fast charging charger, which can charge from 0-50% in 27 minutes, and it also supports 10W reverse wired charging. Being an Infinix phone, it also supports bypass charging.
Competitors Comparison
The Infinix Note Edge might be compared to the Redmi Note 15G, which performs almost the same as the Infinix Note Edge. The Redmi features a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, which is outperformed by the Mediatek Dimensity 7100.
The Infinix is also better in the battery department, the display, and also the Infinix will receive up to 3 major OS upgrades, as it launched with Android 16.
Verdict: Is the Infinix Note Edge Worth Buying?
Having said that, who is this phone for? Basically, if you want a phone that has a long battery life, a good display, and average performance, then by all means get the Infinix Note Edge.
However, if you are someone, let’s say, a content creator who prioritizes good camera quality and flagship-level performance, then you'd better look elsewhere.
So out of 10, I would give this phone 7.5/10, mainly because the cameras are weak, the curved AMOLED display, which can be very expensive to repair, and the chipset is just average.
