Tecno Finally Confirms the Camon Slim, and It Is The Thinnest Camon Yet
Tecno Camon Slim will be launching soon, after Tecno confirmed the device from initial speculation.
Previous FCC listings suggested that the Camon Slim will pack a 7000mAh battery, but it seems the phone will have a decent-sized 5,600mAh battery.
The phone might also be the slimmest Camon phone yet, measuring 6.39 mm thick.
The Camon slim has been spotted on Ugandas Social media pages, Instagram, and X, which are currently on pre-order.
The Tecno Camon Slim is Official: Separating Rumor from Fact
Earlier certification database leaks suggested that the phone would be equipped with a huge 7000mAh battery, which I was really bagging for, as it would be one of the budget smartphones with a 7000mAh battery, but the data goes on to suggest that the phone will have a 5600mAh battery.
A 5600mAh battery isn’t bad by any means in 2026, but we have seen cheaper phones with much higher battery capacities.
Tecno seems to be prioritizing the Slim branding and form factor by equipping the phone with a 5600mAh battery instead to achieve the 6.39mm thickness.
The Camon Slim will come with a 60W fast charger included inside the box, which is something we should be appreciating Tecno for, because some manufacturers are starting to remove chargers even in the budget smartphones.
Design and Display: An Ultra-Slim Work of Art
The design of the Camon Slim looks familiar to that of the Tecno Spark Slim, especially the back with a pill-shaped camera module.
The camera module has the mood light design we also see on the Spark Slim, which is two circular LED lights that are combined with the camera, resembling two big eyes.
The mood light system will feature 354 mini LED lights that will react to calls, charging, and gaming.
Moving on, the Camon Slim will feature an IP68/69 dust and water resistance rating, and it is also MIL-STD-810, a U.S. military standard.
The display of the phone is pretty decent, featuring a 6.78-inch 3D curved AMOLED display and a fast 144Hz refresh rate, which many gamers will come to appreciate.
The phone also has 2160PWM dimming for those with sensitive eyes at night.
Performance and Cameras: What’s Under the Hood?
MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate Power
Under the hood, the Camon Slim will use the Mediatek Helio G200 (6nm) processor, not the most powerful out there, but I guess this is where Tecno had to cut corners.
The phone features an Ultra-cool VC with 12-layer stacked material, which is important for heat dissipation.
I wish Tecno had given us a much more powerful chipset like the Dimensity chipsets, which would have made this phone an all-around budget device and worth recommending.
On the storage front, the phone either comes with 128GB or 256GB storage and 8GB RAM, which can be further extended to 16GB.
50MP Sony LYTIA 600 Camera Setup
At the back, there is one really useful camera; the other one is more of a gimmick, mainly for aesthetics.
At the rear, you get a 50MP LYTIA 600 main camera, and at the front, there is a 32MP selfie shooter.
In regards to video recording, the Camon Slim can do 2k 30 fps on both the selfie shooter and the rear camera.
Pre-Orders, Pricing, and Availability in Uganda (and Beyond)
Currently, pre-orders are running in Uganda, which runs from 15th June to 30th June.
Tecno Kenya hasn’t posted anything regarding the Camon Slim, but the phone will launch sooner or later.
In Kenya, the Tecno Camon Slim may retail between KES 27,000 and 28,500. I will give an update once we get the rollout plan from Tecno and the official pricing.
Conclusion
While the 7000mAh battery was a fun dream, physics definitely wore out.
The 5600mAh battery is still above average in 2026, and it should last you through an entire day of use depending on your use case, but if you're worried about depleting the battery's juice before the day ends, worry no more, because there is a 60W charger.
One thing Tecno really needs to improve is performance. I'm personally getting tired of seeing the same chipset reused generation after generation. In fact, the chipset has become the Achilles' heel of many Tecno smartphones.
While the company continues to make improvements in areas like battery life, charging speeds, and design, performance often feels stuck in the past. It's time we started seeing more capable processors with 5G connectivity, especially as competing brands are already offering better-performing chips at similar price points.
