Infinix Inbook X2 Now Available at KES 48,000 on Kilimall

Infinix, a sub-brand of Transsion Holdings, is known for its smartphones, which are mainly sold in Africa and Asia. The company has unveiled a new laptop in Kenya called the Infinix Inbook X2.

This surprised me because I didn't expect a company that focuses solely on smartphone manufacturing to come up with its own laptop. Although Infinix has not officially launched the computer in the Kenyan market, it is available for purchase on Kilimall.

About Infinix Inbook X2

As mentioned earlier Infinix is a well-known brand that has its focus on smartphone manufacturing and is known for innovation and affordability.

The Infinix inbook X2 is a very interesting laptop packed with the latest technology components inside. In this article, we are going to discuss the features of this laptop and see how it holds up to the competition, let's dive straight into it.

Key Features of the Infinix Inbook X2

Design and Build

The build of the Inbook X2 is pretty solid, it has a dual-textured lid with the infinix logo which is very small, and the laptop is likely to pick up fingerprint smudges.

Opening the laptop, we find a nice keyboard with backlight support. You can choose between two levels of brightness. The trackpad is adequate and quite large, allowing for easy scrolling and navigation.

The infinix Inbook x2 weighs 1.24 | 1.48kg which is a little heavier than some of the competitors out there. On the bright side, it is 6.3mm thick making it portable and the build is metal and it looks really solid.

The laptop has a 720p webcam at the top of the screen for Skype video calls. On the left side, there is a power button, HDMI port, USB 3.0 Type-A port, and two USB 3.1 Type-C ports for data transfers. Only one of the USB Type-C ports can be used for charging. Additionally, there is a physical switch to turn off the webcam for those concerned about privacy.

On the right side, there is another USB 3.0 Type-A port and a USB 2.0 alongside a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a security lock slot or a Kensington lock which adds another layer of security if you use your laptop in public.

The laptop is available in four different colors: blue, green, grey, and red. Personally, I prefer the grey one because it's not as bold as the other colors, but this is just my personal preference.

For connectivity, it supports WIFI 5 connectivity and Bluetooth version 5.1 for transferring files and media.

Display

The display is quite good - an IPS panel measuring 14 inches diagonally with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 and 300 nits of brightness. It's not the brightest out there, as many laptops in this price range don’t have high brightness, which is best suited for indoor use.

I really enjoy laptops with displays that can be tilted or bent to the desired angle, and the Infinix Inbook X2 is no exception.

This laptop can bend up to 178 degrees, making it easy to show things to a group of people, additionally, the laptop has stereo speakers located at the bottom.

For creators, this laptop has 100% of the sRGB and 74% of the Adobe RGB color gamut. While its color reproduction may not be the strongest on Adobe, it should suffice for a midrange laptop.

The screen has an anti-glare finish which helps to prevent any strong reflections and can be used outdoors for just browsing the web and nothing too fancy like watching movies since you might be forced to look for a shade for visibility.

It has a refresh rate of 60Hz, so hardcore gamers may want to consider other options to ensure the expected level of gaming performance.

Performance

On the performance side of things, the Inbook X2 is powered with either Intel Core i7-1065G7 CPU, core i3-1005G1, or core i5-1035G1 combined with 4GB for the core i3, 8GB for core i5 and 8GB for core i7 RAM for fluid multitasking, especially for those who tend to leave dozens of Chrome tabs open if that's how you roll.

The Inbook X2 features Intel UHD graphics for the core i3-1005G1 and core i5-1035G1 versions, and Intel’s Iris Plus graphics for the Intel Core i7-1065G7, with 4 cores for the i7 and i5, and only two cores for the i3. The core i3 has a 3.4GHz frequency, the core i5 has a 3.6GHz frequency, and the core i7 has a 3.9GHz frequency.

The laptop is capable of running light games without any issues, but it may struggle with more demanding titles.

When it comes to storage, you have the option of a 256GB NVMe PCIe 3.0 for the Core i3 and a 512GB NVMe PCIe SSD for both the Core i5 and Core i7. This is great because Infinix provides you with different choices. Personally, I would go for the 512GB option to store all of my photos and videos.

Key Features

Operating System

The operating system on this laptop is the latest Windows 11 Home from Microsoft. Windows 11 Home is designed for individual users and families, so you can expect a smooth experience. If you are a professional you may want to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro which will cost you an extra $ 99.9 for the license which is roughly KES 13,000 as these are two different editions of Windows 11.

Infinix has added some bonus features such as the smart hotspot and quick file-sharing.

However, the downside is that you need to have an Infinix smartphone, such as the Infinix Note 11 and 12. You can't use any other smartphone brand.

Battery

The battery life of the Infinix InBook X2 is decent, providing around 6 hours of use on a full charge. Infinix promises 13 hours of video playback time. Charging up to 60 percent will take 55 minutes to 1 hour with the included 45W adapter. If you travel frequently, you'll need to carry the charger with you as the battery won't last a full day of use.

Price Comparison

The price of the Infinix Inbook X2 is good. For KES. 48,000 you get good specs ranging from the latest intel chip to the metal build and the backlit keyboard, it even outdoes other refurbished laptops in the market. Keep in mind that the prices might differ with the Intel processor you decide to choose.

Potential Drawbacks

I need to consider the Intel Core i3 variant carefully because it is not as powerful as the Core i5 and Core i7 variants. The Core i3 has a dual-core processor, while the i5 and i7 have quad-core processors.

Also, I don't like how the Core i3 version only comes with 4GB of RAM. It's 2024, so the minimum should be 8GB or higher.

Availability on Kilimall

If you are interested in the Infinix in book X2 you can visit Kilimall's website and place your order there but before you make an order, be sure to go through the specifications thoroughly especially the processor,  either you want an Intel core i3, core i5, or core i7.

Target Audience

After discussing the phone's features, it's evident that it's not designed for gaming, although it can handle some lightweight games.

So, who is this laptop for? If you are a writer, student, or basic internet user who opens multiple Chrome tabs, then this laptop is suitable for you.

Conclusion

The Infinix Inbook X2 is a decent laptop for everyday use, but it has a few drawbacks. The core i3 version only has 4GB of RAM, and the dual cores in the core i3 may struggle with demanding applications and tasks like 3D rendering.

However, it's worth noting that this is Infinix's first laptop of this caliber. It features a nice 1080p display (1920 by 1080), a backlit keyboard, the latest Intel Core i3, i5, and i7 processors, and a sturdy chassis with all the necessary ports.
